This week, Inventors and Pioneers have been designing and creating their own soft toys as part of our DT project.
The design brief required the children to create a soft toy for a younger child (aged between 3-6) with a specific purpose in mind. The children had some fantastic discussions around the purpose of toys and decided that most soft toys are for comfort, to support imaginative play and to help children communicate their feelings. They built on their ideas to design and make a toy that fit one of these criteria. Inventors and Pioneers spent a day building on their sewing skills from our art lessons to join materials, having a go at the blanket stitch, to give their soft toys an aesthetically pleasing finish. They worked really hard and we were really impressed with their final products! A big well done to all in Years 5/6 for their resilience throughout this project and for their attention to detail - super work!
