    Animals' diets and spotting patterns

    10 September 2025 (by admin)

In our first science lesson for the topic 'Animals including humans', we looked at how food helps animals and spotted patterns in the food animals eat.

It was great to hear the curious questions being asked and the excellent explaining from the children when they worked in groups to match the food with the animal and look carefully at the diet of certain animals. The children started to see patterns in what animals ate, with many being surprised about how many had fish and peas in their food! They also started to classify the animals based on if they were herbivores, carnivores or omnivores. They learnt that the foods animals eat are important to provide nutrients to help the body; grow, think, repair itself, move and have energy. We are very proud of the collaboration and respect shown while working in groups.
